2022 Douglas County Sheriff Questionnaire

 Question 1

In 2013 FTP Omaha created the first proposal for what would become OPD’s body-worn camera program and Civilian Complaint Review Board, adopted by OPD and the City of Omaha in 2014. Presently, there is no BWC program or independent oversight mechanism for DCSO. 

If elected, would you welcome independent oversight of DC Sheriffs?

Do you feel it is necessary?

Do you see reasons to not allow for independent oversight of Douglas County Sheriffs?

In a March 2022 article of the LA Times, allegations of “deputy gangs” existing in the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department were made by current and former Sheriffs of the department who faced harassment and intimidation when declining to participate in criminal and hostile activity towards the public and fellow officers

Do you feel there are potentially organized criminal or elements in the DCSO?

If elected, how would you investigate criminal and improper officer behavior?

If elected, how would you respond to the discovery of organized criminal officer gangs or individual officers who engage in crimes against the public and fellow officers?  

Do you feel officers in the department can feel safe coming to you for appropriate actions against officer crimes and misconduct? 

What steps would you take to discipline officers found to have engaged in criminal activity while on-duty?
